In an emergency: What to do?

Your safety and security are paramount, and we strive to create a supportive environment where you can thrive without worry. We are committed to preventing harm and minimizing any potential risks to individuals and property. 

What to do if you find yourself in an unsafe situation?

• Try to stay in places where other people are likely to be and approach others to ask for help.
• As soon as possible, call the Garching campus security center (reachable 24 hours a day, seven days a week, located in the Mechanical Engineering building) through 089 289 16600 (extension 16600) and/or the police emergency number 110. Making the calls immediately is important, in order to locate the perpetrator. 
• Afterwards, please report all incidents to the School management.

We will give you the best possible advice and, if desired, put you in touch with professional support – some possible contacts are the following:

• Those affected by sexual harassment and bullying can call the Women's Emergency Hotline through 089 76 3737. The Women's Emergency Hotline is staffed at the following times: Monday to Friday from 10 am - 1 pm and 3 pm - 9 pm, except Wednesday from 10 am - 1 pm and 6 pm - 9 pm The hotline is not staffed on weekends and holidays.
• TUM Gender Equality Office is also available for referrals.
• For students and doctoral candidates at TUM, there is as well the Psychotherapeutic and Psychosocial Counselling Service of the Studentenwerk.
