Research
In-situ Mass Spectrometry & Spatial Metabolomics
Our research focusses on the use of ambient mass spectrometry methods and imaging mass spectrometry. We work predominantly in two areas:
Characterisation of Biofilms Using Multimodal Imaging
Gaps remain in our understanding of biofilm behaviour on microscopic vs. macroscopic, phenomenologicallevel. Our goal is to develop analytical methods that allow assessment of the metabolic heterogeneity in biofilms in order to improve our capabilities to manipulate them.
Characterisation of Tissue Heterogeneity and Drug Distribution
Tissues are highly heterogeneuos biological samples, comprised of a variety of interacting cell types. In orderto understand cell behaviour in health and disease and drug distribution into different cell compartments, wedevelop analytical methods to hollistically characterise tissues and cells in their native environment.
