Prof. de Oliveira Mann untersucht, wie sich unser Immunsystem und seine Rezeptoren zwischen selbst und fremd unterscheiden. Hierbei konzentriert sie sich auf Nucleotidyltransferasen (NTasen). Trotz ihrer Bedeutung für biologische Prozesse, die von der Immunität bis hin zur Entwicklung reichen, sind mehrere menschliche NTasen und ihre Produkte noch uncharakterisiert. Ziel ihrer Gruppe ist es, die molekulare Funktion dieser NTasen aufzudecken und neue nukleotidbasierte sekundäre Botenstoffe zu entdecken.
