Doctoral thesis position (TV-L E13, 75%)
The Bavarian NMR Center (BNMRZ) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for a doctoral position (TV-L E13, 75%) within the framework of the TUM Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS) Hans-Fischer Senior Fellowship and the Focus Group “In-cell ¹⁹F NMR of Protein Interactions.”
In collaboration with Prof. Angela M. Gronenborn (University of Pittsburgh, USA), Prof. Michael Sattler, and Prof. Franz Hagn, this project will develop and apply advanced ¹⁹F NMR techniques to investigate protein structure, dynamics, and interactions in complex environments and live mammalian cells. The research integrates ultra-high-field NMR, biochemical, and computational approaches to explore biomolecular mechanisms and protein–drug interactions at atomic resolution.
The successful candidate will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, gain hands-on experience at the BNMRZ, and spend several months in Prof. Gronenborn’s laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh.
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, or related fields, and show strong motivation for interdisciplinary research.
