Theory Lab
In our experimental lab, we work with the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) to investigate and quantify physiological responses to different environmental conditions (e.g. nutrient accessibility, competition or phage predation) to develop mathematical models that explain the physical principles underlying simple living systems.
In our theory lab, we develop theoretical and statistical models for complex biological phenomena such as pattern formation, chromatin organization, enzyme arrangements and dynamics of nucleotide pools at the origin of life:
